A Poem For Crusin'

Posted for Lynne Stec:

As some of you know, I'm really excited about being adopted by a greyhound. We're studying poetry in my 6th grade special education classroom. We're learning about formatted poems, so for our classroom I AM ... poem my sixth graders chose Crusin from the adoption page. I've pasted the poem here, and will post the pdf on the group site.

We hope you enjoy it!

I AM CRUSIN
I am Crusin who likes to play with toys and look at deer.
I wonder what cats look like.
I hear deer, meows, and screaming monkeys.
I see a soft dogbed that looks like a doughnut.
I want a forever home and a family of my own.
I am Crusin who likes to play with toys and look at deer.

I pretend to bite people really hard.
I feel happiness in my heart.
I touch the ground and the stuff called furniture.
I worry about not having a family.
I cry when I think I won't get adopted.
I am Crusin who likes to play with toys and look at deer.

I understand how to do tricks and play with stuffies.
I say that I will get adopted and my family will take care of me.
I dream about stuffies and all kinds of toys.
I try to behave and listen.
I hope for a family and a good home.
I am Crusin who likes to play with toys and look at deer.
